Asian Society of Mastology

Asian Society of Mastology (ASOMA) as a Public Charitable trust will have an Association of breast surgeons from across Asia and globe functioning to propagate the mission of the Trust that are as follows (the gist of the trust also attached at the tail end ):

  • The primary mission of the Trust is to be the premier organization for excellence in surgical sciences related to timely treatment of Breast Cancer disease and to elevate the standards of the medical/surgical profession for the good of mankind.
  • The mission is to create an international platform for trainees and younger professionals in surgical disciplines for learning the art and science of surgery under the guidance of distinguished faculty.
  • The mission is accomplished primarily by conducting monthly Master classes consisting of clinical case presentations, demonstration of clinical examination of surgical cases, operative videos demonstrating the correct surgical technique and discussion of evidence based management of various clinical cases and scenarios etc..
  • An Annual meeting of ASOMA contemplated to provide comprehensive educational experiences in the fields of clinical surgery, experimental surgery and surgical research with the vision to improve patient care and to provide “Asian Solutions to Asian Problems”.

OBJECTS & PURPOSES:

  • To promote the awareness about the act and signs of breast diseases.
  • To advance standards and training in breast diseases among members of the medical profession and professions allied to medicine. To formulate structured training including assessment programs in collaboration with various institutions (in India and with International Bodies).
  • To develop the breast surgery as a district sub-specialty in developing countries in collaboration with International bodies/institutions.
  • To promote the study and research of breast diseases Nationally and Internationally.
  • Providing grants, aids (financial or otherwise), loans, scholarships, fees for research in the field and receive subscriptions, donations for the said purposes.
  • To bring out from time to time a consensus statement regarding the standardized and optimum management of various breast diseases found in Asian scenario.
  • To represent surgeons practising breast surgery on world platform.
  • To create public awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer and suggest ways for control and cure.
  • To do such other things that may be helpful to promote/further the cause of the foregoing objects.
  • Print books, magazines or other teaching literature to support the training and activities in the field of breast diseases;
  • To accept gifts, grants, presentation and collect donations and other offerings and stocks in any form and from any person or organization including foreign contribution within the parameters of laws in India and to deal with the same for the purpose of the trust.
  • To charge/collect tuition and other fees from trainees for various program to meet the outlay and expenses incurred for undertaking the objects and educational purposes.
  • To be affiliated to national and international foundations, organizations and bodies in order to obtain financial assistance, grants, contributions, sponsors and to share views and co-ordinate with those bodies for furtherance of its activities;
  • To construct, acquire, maintain building or improve therein stated above or develop any property to meet the objects and purposes of the trust.
  • To establish, acquire, set up institutions, schools, clinics and wellness centres to facilitate research in the field and in particular for the breast diseases;
  • To do all such acts or program incidental to the attainment of the objects delineated above;
  • Any other benevolent object of general public utility.

Gist of the trust deed :
ASOMA (Asian Society of Mastology) is registered as a Public Charitable trust at New Delhi Dr Chintamani, Dr Dipten Sarkar, Dr Uttam Soni, Dr Piyush Ranjan Mishra Herein after jointly referred to as “trustees” (which expression shall, unless excluded by or repugnant to the context, be deemed to include the trustee or trustees for the time being of these presents and their successors in office) of the other part. Being alarmed by the fact that the incidence of breast diseases has been increasing in the developing countries, the need of awareness, education and timely treatment is of enormous importance for a healthy life, the Settler is desirous of settling a sum of Rs.10,000 (Rupees Ten thousand) only upon a Trust for effectuating the aforesaid desire.

Whereas the Settlor is desirous of establishing a trust for public charitable object, with a vision of the MISSION STATEMENT as:-

  • Promoting, encouraging and improving the dissemination of knowledge concerning all aspects of Surgery and Health.
  • Providing education for younger professionals in the various disciplines of surgery especially breast disorders about new science, surgical techniques and evidence based practices.
  • Improving the diagnosis and management of patients by empowering young surgeons with knowledge and wisdom.
  • Promoting clinical and basic research in the various disciplines of surgery especially breast disorders.
  • Creating a niche of trained, dedicated and committed surgeons to serve the society using various tools like webinars, workshops, seminars, continued medical education and bedside learning.
  • Individualized mentoring and training using simulators, models and various available tools.
  • To organize Lectures, Seminars, Conferences and workshops etc….to collect and disseminate knowledge in all or any of the fields of education, and to print, publish and circulate books, papers journals, periodicals and research studies in both print and electronic Media, for the promotion of and awareness particularly in the fields of medical and other sciences including breast disorders and public health
  • To render welfare services openly to all citizens of India without any distinction of Religion, Race, Gender or language,
  • To create awareness and carry out related activities for promotion of objects

Gist of the mission statement of ASOMA :

Being alarmed by the fact that the incidence of breast diseases has been increasing in the developing countries, the need of awareness, education and timely treatment is of enormous importance for a healthy life, the Settler is desirous of settling a sum of Rs.10,000 (Rupees Ten thousand) only upon a Trust for effectuating the aforesaid desire.

Further all aims, objects and purposes of the trust herein stated

And whereas the trustees have, at the request of the Settlor, agreed to act as the first trustees of these presents as testified by their being parties to and executing these presents, And whereas it is necessary to declare the objects and terms of the public charitable trust, being constituted under these presents.

Now this indenture witnesseth as follows:-

1. That, in order to effectuate his aforesaid desire, the Settlor has set apart and handed over to the trustees, a sum of Rs. 10,000 (hereinafter called the “Trust Fund” which expression shall include cash and any other property or investment of any kind whatsoever into which the same or any part thereof might be converted, invested or varied from time to time or which may be acquired by the trustees or may come to their hands by virtue of these presents or by operations of law or otherwise howsoever in relation to these presents) and the trustees shall hold and stand possessed of the same upon the trust, subject to the powers, provisions, agreements and declarations hereinafter contained .That the name of the trust shall be “ASOMA (Asian Society Of Mastology)” and its office shall, for the present, be situated at AI Block, House No. 248 IInd Floor, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi–110029 and or at such other place or places as the trustees may decide from time to time.

2. The objects of the Mission for which this trust is established are:

  • To do all such acts or program incidental to the attainment of the objects delineated above;
  • Any other benevolent object of general public utility.

Further all aims, objects and purposes of the trust herein stated above shall come into effect/force after necessary appointment of the competent Govt authority in the case where affiliation/permission/licence/sanction is required.
Provided:

  • that none of the objects of this Trust shall at any time involve carrying on of any activity for earning profits or as business;
  • that the income or the assets of the Trust fund shall not be applied or transferred in whole or in part for any purpose other than those purposes enshrined in the trust objects above;
  • that the income or assets of the Trust shall not be applied or used for the benefit of the authors of the Trust or any person who makes substantial contribution or donations to the trust or any trustee or manager of this Trust.
  • that the income of the trust shall be applied only within the territory of India towards the objects of the trust.

Functions of trust:
  • The trust will never act which are illegal and unlawful in nature and also oppose to the public policy and contrary to the law of the country;
  • The trust will never act like Micro-financing & Money Laundering (Act 2012) in nature and shall not obtain any donation or like that from abroad without getting permission of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act of Central Govt or any Competent Authority.

Annual General Body meeting under the chairmanship of the President will be held during the annual conference every year, preferably physically, however, with flexibilty to attend virtually in the event of inability to attend in person. The notice for the same would be served by the CEO at least four weeks in advance with the provisional agenda. The executive committee meetings would be held periodically.
